There are some who maintain that the New Testament does not favor any particular view of church organization. The well-known New Testament scholar G. E. Ladd says in his work A Theology of the New Testament: “It appears likely that there was no normative pattern of church government in the apostolic age, and that the organizational structure of the church is no essential element in the theology of the church.”4 Some might agree with Ladd that since the New Testament does not give us an exact blueprint
